"When snowmelt sweeps through the Shroud"

Celebrate Nèuteja, an old Gelmorran festival of Issom-Har turned duskwight diaspora holidayMarch 29, 2026 @ 8pm EasternGolem, Dynamis
South Shroud (18.3, 24.4)
"Oh Mother Abalathia, from crown to the soles of her feet."
With no sun or moon to track the cycle of days, the Gelmorrans of the South Shroud once marked time with the flow of water. As the underground tributaries of the Hathoeva River were flushed with snowmelt from Coerthas, households would shake off the malaise of winter by taking old tallow and setting it alight upon small moss and lichen floats, which were sent speeding away on the swollen current as it passed through the Shroud towards the sea. With the tallow were burned all things which weighed upon the heart — regrets, confessions, failed resolutions, broken promises, old grievances. Nèuteja, or 'snow cleanse' in old Gelmorran, heralded a turnover in the new year, not only of the watershed, but for those who depended upon it.Now known as "Sloughswell" among the duskwight diaspora of the Shroud, this festival of remembrance is celebrated by duskwights and their neighbors alike with the release of paper boats holding small candles upon the water.
How to Participate
This is an immersive RP event, which means most interactions will be in-character. All Shroudfolk and friends of Shroudfolk are welcome to join the festivities! If you'd like to 'light a candle on the water' we'd recommend bringing a campfire minion with you to the event and placing it in the river. If you'd like to share what burden your character decided to burn with their tallow on social media, feel free to use the #sloughswell tag on Bluesky!
Roleplay Courtesy
Because the premise is centered around duskwight communities —including the Redbelly Hive — we ask that roleplayers use common courtesy when deciding what characters they bring to the event and how they play them. This is meant to be a reflective and celebratory event, not a public conflict. An Adder officer, Wood Wailer, or Hearer can attend out of uniform, but if they start talking loudly about how they want to arrest duskwights, they are going to be asked to leave. Likewise, if an adventurer shows up demanding people hand over Gelmorran artifacts, they will also be asked to leave. If you're unsure whether something falls within the aforementioned guidelines, feel free to reach out to one of the event hosts. Asking for clarification with OOC communication is appreciated and encouraged.
"From breath to stone, from stone to ink"
Will there be food, vendors, or performances? While the event hosts are not organizing anything along those lines, roleplayers are free to show up with food to share, wares to sell, or music of their own volition and incorporate any of the above into their roleplay. Is this an actual Gelmorran holiday? It is not, in the sense that official sources give us very little material on Gelmorran culture or what contemporary duskwight settlements look like in the subterrane. Nèuteja is the product of roleplayer imagination as we try to picture the sort of Eorzea that might exist in the margins.Do I need to be a duskwight to join?Nope! While modern duskwights are the descendants of those who chose to stay behind in the caverns, Gelmorra was once a civilization of elezen and hyur. Those who are surface duskwights in the current day have neighbors among the Keeper clans, Ala Mhigan refugees, and many other demographics who they consider community.Identity is a complicated thing, and all who are willing to engage in good faith with Gelmorran tradition are welcome.
